"To Create A Forum For Those Who Take Pleasure In The Arts"

  

The Vista Art Association formed in 2003, and in 2005, VAA became VAF-- the Vista Art Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

     

VAF provides a venue for displaying and for viewing original artwork created by members of VAF.  When artwork is sold at the Vista Village Art Gallery, payment goes directly to the artist.  VAF requests that the artist donate 15% of the sale price to VAF. VAF also supports children's art education and programs.

    ARTIST’S STATEMENT

     

    “Everything in nature is in rhythm, flowing – nothing is out of proportion. You can’t beat Mother Nature on shapes. If you look closely at nature, you’ll never be out of ideas. Each figure is a challenge, an experiment in mass, balance and energy. Taking risks is what makes it fun.”

     

    PROFILE

     

    Elon grew up close to the sea on the tiny island of Cayman Brac in the Caribbean. As a boy, he would pick baby sea turtles off the beach when the storms dislodged them from their sandy nests, bring them home and take care of them until they were strong enough to return to the sea, usually after about a year. Originally drawn to art to immortalize the sea creatures he loved since his youth in 16-gauge metal sculptures, Elon quickly expanded to create a multiplicity of sculptural forms.
